Teaboard : It might be a Christmas present :-) I noticed the extra board was included when I checked exhibits that are returned from TRONSHOW by YRP UNL, Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory because I could not went the last exhibition day. The board was announced for the education purpose recently, and it is low price. I have to confirm why the board is included, but the board might be donated to port CyberLink libraries from them.

SL-3100 : I installed pdaXrom v1.1.0 RC12 to the my Zaurus to follow the installation document. I set the root partition as 96MB. Using the device, I would like to compile CyberLink for C++ or CyberLink for C at first, and aVLC with the UPnP/AV patch :-)

Windows Media Connect 2.0 : I installed it and checked the device description of UPnP. It has no DLNA tags, and has a non standard service for UPnP/AV, X_MS_MediaReceiverRegistar.

I have released a new UPnP package for Perl developers with the useful sample of Vodcasting for DLNA Media Servers.

CyberLink for Perl : The package is a development package for UPnP developers. It controls some UPnP protocols automatically, and supports to create your control points quickly.

To get the package, please check the following site.

CPAN : http://search.cpan.org (skonno - UPnP)
SourceForge.net : http://sourceforge.net/projects/clinkperl

Please check the project of SourceForge.net too because the package of CPAN includes only the document of Pod format.

The current version provides only the minimum functions of the control point, I will might support functions of UPnP devices in the future.

UPnP::AV::MediaServer : The package includes a utility package, UPnP::AV::MediaServer for DLNA media server. I added some examples for the package such as printing all contents in the all media server in the local network.

Vodcasting for DLNA Media Servers : The package includes a vodcast example, dms2vodcast.pl, using UPnP::AV::MediaServer. The example finds all DLNA media servers such as Sony's Cocoon and Toshiba's RD-X6 in the local network, converts the MPEG2 movies to the MPEG4 one, and outputs the RSS file for Vodcast.

Using the example, I can transfer my favorite content in the my DLNA server such as Sony's Cocoon to my iPod easily every day :-)

To transfer the MPEG4 contents, use PSP Manager or for Sony's PSP, and use iTunes for Apple's iPod.

TiVo : They announced to support mobile devices for viewing video such as Apple's iPod and the PSP device. I think the Tivo will distribute the RSS file from the HTTP server. I am developing a similar product now, but I once considerd to support UPnP/AV for Japanese Tivos, Sony's CSV-S57. Tivo withdrawn from from Japan, but they announced to enter Japan in 2006 again. I will might buy the new Japanese TiVo if the Japanese TiVo not to support DLNA and I can hack it :-)
